The Bruins Finally Clicking
1.David Pastrnak Brings Scoring to the Bruins
David Pastrnak was drafted by the Boston Bruins late in the first round. He had a good training camp but was sent down to start in Providence to get some experience. The Bruins brought him up for a couple of games then let him go play for his country at the World Junior Championships in Canada where he played very well. David Pastrnak came back to play for the Bruins, and he has played extremely well. In the last 2 games Pastrnak has 4 goals , and one of which was the first of his career. He had 2 goals against the Flyers and the Lightning. Both he scored against the Lightning were very nice goals.
The big question is will he help and bring the team success, and goal scoring throughout the year? It is a question the Bruins have to ask themselves. He would be a great help being a good goal scorer playing with David Krejci. With only a game left on his contract that they would make it so the Bruins could not send Pastnak down they have to really see if he will be able to play. He has sparked the Bruins 4 game win streak and got them back on the right track so the right move would be to keep him up and let him do what he can to help the Bruins get to the playoffs and make another run at the Stanley cup this year.
2. Bruins Win 4th Game In A Row With 4-3 Win Against Tampa Bay
The Boston Bruins kept rolling with a 4-3 win against the Atlantic division leading Tampa Bay Lightning. The Bruins went down early off of a Steven Stamkos goal. Stamkos tipped it in behind Rask, and Stamkos is one of the best players in the league who has given the Bruins fits in the past, but Brad Marchand ties it up on a great play from Carl Soderberg who sent a great pass to Marchand. Both goalies were playing well, and Stamkos strikes for the 2nd of the night to put Tampa back on top of the Bruins. Rookie sensation David Pastrnak answers the call and scores his 3rd of the season on a great net drive and finish that tied it back up again.
Just moments Later Milan Lucic puts a goal home that gives the Bruins a go ahead goal . The game was a very good physical battle between the two teams and emotion started to come out during the game. Again Pastrnak continued to show his great skill with his 4th of the year on a wrap-around goal that wowed everyone, and may have answered the question if he should stay up or not. Things got heated in the 3rd period as there was a fight and rookie Cedric Paquette decided to not be too smart, and go after 6 foot 9 Zdeno Chara. As expected things did not bode well for him as Chara punched him in the face and knocked him down. Again Paquette tried to fight Chara, but this time tried to skate away when Chara dropped the gloves. Brad Marchand said after the game "He should know we play them 3 more times this year hopefully he gets sent back down by then." The Bruins got a huge win over a really good team, and will look to continue the success and stay hot.
3. Simon Gagne Not Returning Due To Personal Reasons
Simon Gagne announced a couple of weeks ago that he was taking a leave of absence because his father was diagnosed with an inoperable cancer. He wanted to spend time with his family and his father in the remaining time in his life. Last week his father passed away. Peter Chiarelli announced that Gagne will not return this season because he wants to spend time with his family. The Bruins support his decision 100%. Gagne spoke out about this and said
“The last month has been extremely difficult for me with my father being sick and his passing,” said Gagne. “To play in the NHL you have to be 100% mentally, emotionally and physically committed to the game. At this time I know that I cannot be close to those levels. The Bruins organization and my teammates have been great to my family and I during this time. When I decided not to return this season, I spoke to Peter and assured him that I did not want the organization or my teammates to be impacted. Together we made the decision that my status would be changed so that the team could have a full active roster. In addition, I would like to thank the fans and the NHL family for all of the support that they have given my family and I during this difficult time – it has truly meant a lot.”
He made the decision to not come back , and it is a respected decision and he had to make a tough decision. It shows that there are more important things in life than hockey. Condolences go to Simon Gagne and his family.
