Three things you should know about Entertainment this week…

                       VH1 celebrates 40 years of SNL





     January 28th marks a big day in late-night shows this year.  It is SNL's 40th birthday!  VH1 will be celebrating this by playing a mega-marathon SNL rewind for 19 days.  In total it will be 433 hours and longest SNL marathon, and longest TV marathon in history.  It will run from January 28th to February 15th.  Not every single episode will be aired but the most memorable and treasured ones will be.  Not only is this a way to celebrate, it's a way for the fans to relive the most loved moments and original skits, starting from season thirty nine back to season one.  SNL is the longest- running sketch comedy show in history.  the very first episode aired on October 11th, 1975.  

   Another way this show will be celebrated is, an opening of a museum-like experience in NYC this spring.  It will be opening at the Premier exhibition center, and it will offer visitors the chance to persue vintage set pieces, scripts, props and "interactive elements" from sketches of SNL's four decades of existence.  


              George Clooney receives the DeMille Award





   At the Golden Globes Award ceremony on this past Sunday, George Clooney received the DeMille award.  The actor, director, and philanthropist delivered a speech reflecting on his career, new marriage and the French terror attacks.  The DeMille award for lifetime achievement in motion pictures has been given annually since 1952 by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association at the Golden Globes award ceremony.  It is presented for "outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment".  In the past famous people such as, Audrey Hepburn, Judy Garland, Robin Williams, Walt Disney and more have been recipients.

  In 2015, George Clooney had the pleasure of receiving this award.  The speech he gave was inspiring and touching, as he talk about emotional topics, such as Robin Williams, and the French terror attacks.  "Today was an extraordinary day, they were Christians and, Jews and Muslims, they were world leaders, and they weren't marching in protest but in spirit that we won't walk in fear."  This is a quote from a part of Clooney's speech as he talks about the terrible situation in France.



                       Betty White pronounced favorite T.V. icon 

      The People's Choice Awards occurred on January 7th, 2015.  It was the 41st award show of it's kind and numerous awards were handed out.  The People's Choice Awards is an American awards show, which recognizes the people and the work of popular culture, which is voted on by the general public.  The show has annually been held since 1975.  It is broadcasted on CBS and is produced by Prcoter and Gamble.

    This year, winners included, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lawrence, Ben Affleck, Ellen Pompeo, Adam Sandler and more.  A particular one, was Betty White as she stole the show by winning "favorite T.V. icon".  Betty is an American actress,singer,author, producer, radio host and more.  She is a timeless actress and has been awarded for numerous things.  Betty was overly emotional and overjoyed to be receiving the favorite T.V. icon award.  The well known star was given a standing ovation from the crowd.  In her acceptance speech, she admitted she was surprised people at her age (92) would still be receiving these awards.  Because of that she was extremely grateful and blessed to have won that inspiring title.
